Storying Rape: Shame Ends Here

September 15, 2012

Suzanne Lacy at the Liverpool Biennial

Storying Rape: Shame Ends Here is an art project by Suzanne Lacy for the Liverpool Biennial. It grows out of Three Weeks in January, a 2012 project on rape in Los Angeles originally commissioned by LACE for the Getty’s Pacific Standard Time Performance and Public Art Festival, consisting of a cross-disciplinary platform of 50 presentations and conversations, including the performance Storying Rape–a filmed conversation between civic leaders, scholars, activists and writers which probed the implications of public narratives on rape. Lacy is working with organizations in the City of Liverpool, including METAL, to promote a public conversation on rape incidence, education, and prevention that includes youth and men in the effort to end violence. You can join the conversation by sharing your thoughts, and following our twitter feed. Watch part of the Storying Rape video here.
