ReVISIONS of LA with Jamison Carter, elana melissa hill, and Eric Schott

ASAP @ LACE

Please join ReVISIONS of LA for a family-friendly workshop at LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) in Hollywood to make stamps out of potatoes and draw together as a catalyst for discussion about the way urban space effects our daily lives. Three professional artists will be running the workshop, providing instruction and encouraging conversation.

This workshop is free. All materials for making stamps and drawing will be provided, and all ages are welcome to drop in.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Jamison Carter is a Los Angeles based artist working in a variety of media. Recent exhibitions include solo exhibitions at the Da Vinci Gallery at Los Angeles City College and the West Gallery at California State University, Northridge. His sculpture pairs cut rubber and jet cut glass, while his prints are made from rubber stamps printed on Tyvek. He is interested in the juxtaposition of disparate materials and forms to redefine the understanding of form and material. Jamison attended Cranbrook Academy of Art and is an Assistant Professor of Art at Los Angeles Valley College. His home and studio are in Highland Park. More at jamisoncarter.net

elana melissa hill holds an M.F.A. from Claremont (2011) and a B.A. from the University of Irvine (2007). She has recently shown in the Emergent 12 at Object Gallery, La Cosa Nostra at Galerie Rheeway, and Hill / Hughes Hypersurregionalism at Autonomie. Hill was the co-founder and director of Catalyst Gallery at UCI from 2005-2007 and is currently the program director of ReVISIONS of LA, the monthly drawing program at LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions). She lives and works in Los Angeles.

A native of southern California, Eric Schott is a painter engaged with contemporary hard-edge geometric abstraction who completed his undergraduate studies at California State University Northridge, and is currently in the final semester of completing his MFA at Claremont Graduate University.  In addition to his solo thesis show this February he has been involved with groups shows at Andi Campagnone Projects, the dA Center For the Arts, 50 Bucks Gallery in Pomona, and at Objct Gallery in Claremont. In August he will take part in a two-person exhibition at Autonomie Foundation in downtown Los Angeles.

ABOUT ASAP

ASAP (after school arts program) is an arts education collective with a faculty and student population that is always in flux. Led by Michael Ano, elana melissa hill and Elizabeth Watkins, ASAP is motivated by the belief that “Arts education should be available to everyone.
